ARMY VOLLEYBALL TEAM PRESENTS TROPHY TO COAS

8 October 2016. The Ghana Army Men’s Volleyball team, led by the team coach, WOII Attoh Habib, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Army staff (COAS) Maj Gen Obed Boamah Akwa in his office at the Army Headquarters on 20 October 2016, to present to him the Silverstar cup championship trophy.
The team placed first in the just ended volleyball competition held at Lebanon House at Tudu in Accra from the 7 to 8 October, 2016. It was organised by the Greater Accra Volleyball Authority and involved top six teams from the volleyball league comprising the Navy, Air Force, Immigration, Immanuel Presby Church, University of Ghana and the Army Team.
The Army Team beat the Air Force Team 3 to 1 on aggregate in the final game of the competition to be crowned the overall winners of the contest.
The captain of the team, Cpl Benefo Daniel was joined by the coach of the team to present the award to the COAS.
Receiving the trophy, the COAS, Maj Gen OB Akwa, expressed great delight in the achievements of the team both on the local and international stages thus projecting the image of the Ghana Army and the Ghana Armed Forces as a whole. He said “I congratulate you all and thank you for bringing the cup home. I know from past events that volleyball is not our strong suit, so I am really impressed”.
Maj Gen OB Akwa then presented an amount of 2000 Cedis to the team.
